The blog

Verve labelOne of the great jazz labels is making a regular appearance on Giants of Jazz Radio. Verve did more than most to promote and introduce people to jazz during the 1950s and 60s and under the stewardship of Norman Grantz he made the music of Ella Fitzgerald, Oscar Peterson and many others accessible to the masses. He was acknowledged as "the most successful impresario in the history of jazz" and known for his anti-racist position and for integrating audiences. You can hear the best of Verve between 16:00 and 17:00 GMT every day. We also air a regular in-depth documentary about him.
